Dr. Donnica has recently been interviewed on Good Morning America Health, Portland?s Studio 6, Chicago?s Univision, Good Day Sacramento, and Good Morning San Diego to talk about the benefits and effectiveness of WaterWorks.

WaterWorks is the safe and natural solution proven to eliminate feminine odor. WaterWorks has been researched for over six years to guarantee its safety and has been clinically proven efficacious using only low-pressure tap water and medical grade stainless steel. Using stainless steel with running water is a recognized method of eliminating the volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) that cause odor. In fact, it is used by chefs as the most effective way to eliminate odors from their hands. WaterWorks uses the same principle to naturally eliminate vaginal odor.

Unlike other products, WaterWorks doesn?t just mask odors and it does not upset the delicate balance of the vaginal ecosystem. WaterWorks? patented shape also has special channels, which prevent damming up of the water and enhance rapid drainage. The gentle flow of water is directed downward, which prevents bad bacteria from being pushed farther into the vagina. Because of these features, WaterWorks is recommended by OB/Gyn physicians. Developed by a woman for women, Waterworks is the first-ever completely natural douching alternative.

Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri: Vintage Vacation Paradise (Images of America Series)

When the Union Electric Company finished constructing Bagnell Dam in 1931, they had done more than build a source of electrical power-they had created a vacation paradise. Bordered by lush hills and ancient bedrock, the Lake of the Ozarks covers more than 50,000 acres. Since the opening of the lake’s first boat docks, three generations of visitors have spent countless days relaxing by its waters. H. Dwight Weaver reconstructs these lazy days, offering readers a vintage tour of one of America’s favorite destinations. Each generation witnessed the area’s growth, from rustic rock masonry buildings to gravity-defying mystery houses. While travelers in the 1930s and 40s came seeking respite from the Great Depression and World War II, their children and grandchildren returned in happier times, drawn back by the natural beauty and man-made wonders, as illustrated in these historic images.

Parker Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam that crosses the Colorado River 249km downstream of Hoover Dam. Built between 1934 and 1938 by the Bureau of Reclamation, it is 98m high, 72m of which are below the riverbed, making it "the deepest dam in the world". The dam’s primary functions are to create a reservoir, and to generate hydroelectric power. The dam straddles the border between California and Arizona. The reservoir behind the dam is called Lake Havasu and can store 798.000m³.

Construction of the dam was a contentious issue for Arizona. Built as part of the larger Colorado River Compact of 1922, Arizona was not pleased with the plan in general and refused to sign it until 1944. Even then Arizona continued to dispute its water allotments until a 1963 Supreme Court decision settled the issue. The court has had to adjust the agreement several times since, most recently in 2000. As recently as 2008 Arizona Senator John McCain has called for a renegotiation of the plan.

In 1935, when Arizona Governor Benjamin Baker Moeur sent 6 members of the Arizona National Guard to observe the dam’s construction, they reported back that there was construction activity on the Arizona side of the river. Arizona Attorney General Arthur La Prade concluded that the Metropolitan Water District had no right to build on Arizona’s territory, which prompted Governor Moeur to send a larger National Guard force to halt construction. The troops were recalled when Secretary of the Interior Harold L. Ickes halted construction until the issue had been settled.

The Department of the Interior took Arizona to court over the issue hoping to end the state’s interference. To the Department of the Interior’s shock, the Supreme Court sided with Arizona and dismissed the injunction. The court concluded that the dam had never been directly approved by Congress and that California was not entitled to build on Arizona’s land without Arizona’s consent. Arizona eventually agreed to allow the dam in exchange for approval of the Gila River irrigation project.

Excerpt: An arch-gravity dam , curved-gravity dam or arched dam is a dam with the characteristics of both an arch dam and a gravity dam . It is a dam that curves upstream in a narrowing curve that directs most of the water against the canyon rock walls, providing the force to compress the dam. It combines the strengths of two common dam forms and is considered a compromise between the two. A typical example is the Hoover Dam . A gravity dam requires a large volume of internal fill. An arch-gravity dam can be thinner than the pure gravity dam and requires less internal fill. Hoover Dam from the airArch-gravity dams are massive dams of reinforced concrete that resist the thrust of water by their weight pushing down using the force of gravity . A gravity dam is constructed so that the dam’s massive weight resists the pressure of the water against it. At the same time an arch-gravity dam incorporates the arch ‘s curved design that is so effective in deflecting the water in narrow, rocky locations where the gorge ‘s side are of hard rock and the water is forced into a narrow channel. Therefore the span needed for the dam is narrow; the dam’s curved design effectively holds back the water in the reservoir using a lesser amount of construction material. When properly situated on an appropriate site, the

Looking Down Hoover Dam

Article by Micheal Yardy

Once known as Boulder Dam, The Hoover Dam attracts over a million visitors each year. Located in Black Canyon, just minutes outside of Las Vegas, it is a marvelous concrete arch-gravity construction that hasn’t lost its charm every after 70 years of commencement. Its structure was the product of collective work involving thousands of workers, and cost over one hundred and fifty lives. The work began on the dam in 1930 and despite the inaccessible location and ruthless working conditions; it was completed two years ahead of schedule and nicely under budget. Through considered as a controversial decision by many Americans, the dam was named in honor of 31st president Herbert Hoover in 1935.

A National Historic Landmark, it is the highest dam in the Western Hemisphere and stands at more than 730 feet above the wild Colorado River. At any given point of time, 17 generators work in the dam premises, producing over 4 billion kilowatts of electricity each year, making it the largest hydroelectric power facilities of the country. The operation and maintenance cost of the resource is solely supported by revenue from power sales.

If you are driving, the Hoover Dam is located 35 miles south of Las Vegas on U.S. 93. To reach here, take Interstate 15 south to I-215 east. Drive east on I-215 for near about 10 miles to the junction of I-215 and US 93/ US 95. Turn South on US Highway 93 and continue about 19 miles to Boulder City. When here, take a left at the second stoplight in town (there are only 2 of them). Continue on US 93 for about 4-5 miles and turn on Nevada State Route 172 – which is the Hoover Dam Access Road. From here, take NV SR 172 to the Dam on the Nevada/Arizona border.

If you wish to continue travel into Arizona, you must re-enter Nevada and access Highway 93 to go across the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge because the roadway across the dam is no longer open to through-traffic.

The Hoover Dam opens daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for visitors (with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas). The dam tour fee is $ 30 per person and tickets are required to be purchased only in person. Children under 8 are not allowed. The tour is also not accessible to those on crutches or in wheelchairs.

If you are planning to visit Hoover Dam you can take advantage of car rental Services from AmericaCarRental.com.

Wellington Dam Upgrade Works –

Wellington Dam Upgrade Works – Structural Aspects involved in Upgrading the Dam by Building a Bridge on a Spillway and installing the Largest Ground Anchors in the World
Event on 2012-06-19 18:00:00
Venue: Auditorium, Engineers Australia, 712 Murray Street, West Perth, WA
Date: Tue 19 June 2012 6.00 PM

Wellington Dam is a mass concrete/gravity dam, first constructed in the 1930’s and later raised to its current height of 35 metres in the 1960’s. It is the largest dam in the south-west of WA and the second largest in the state (after the Ord Dam). Having determined that the aging dam did not meet current engineering standards, the Water Corporation formed the Wellington Dam Alliance (WDA) to investigate various alternative options and to design and construct an optimum solution. WDA is a collaborative Alliance between the Water Corporation, Leighton Contractors, Entura (formerly Hydro Tasmania), Structural Systems and AECOM.

The chosen design solution was based on the installation of 43 post tensioned ground anchors to anchor the dam down to its foundations. Apart from being the largest anchors in the world (91 strands), it was how to install the anchors and provide access for long term maintenance along the spillway crest that gave WDA its greatest challenge.

The presentation will describe the process of how various alternative structural solutions were developed and evaluated against a range of acceptance criteria and how the optimum solution was chosen and translated into a buildable design that would meet all stakeholder and project objectives.

The Alliance developed and delivered a range of novel and innovative design and construction solutions, covering a wide range of disciplines and techniques. The chosen solution involved the construction of a concrete bridge across the crest of the dam, designed to fail at a predetermined flood overtopping event. The bridge sits on highly reinforced concrete piers, recessed into the spillway crest, and which house and protect the sensitive anchor heads. Being able to transfer the concentrated anchor head loads into the unreinforced dam spillway became a major challenge for the structural design team.

Another major challenge was access and the Alliance developed a range of innovative temporary and permanent work techniques that would provide safe and efficient access for personnel and equipment needed to undertake the various tasks in the complex building sequences. Working on the crest of a 35 metre high dam with a 15 metre drop into the reservoir on one side and a 35 metre drop onto rocks on the other required the highest levels of safety awareness. Safety was built into the design and became the No. 1 priority for the team, resulting in not a single lost time injury being recorded over the duration of the project. At the same time, the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, having met all project objectives.
